Avoid (or Reduce) Toe Fungus
Avoid (or Reduce) Toe Fungus

The is a simple how-to to help you either reduce your current Toe Fungus condition or avoid future infection. Consider this a "checklist" that will greatly reduce your likelihood of contracting fungus and manage or reduce any existing infection.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Replace Stinky Shoes - They stink because they are INFESTED with fungal bacteria! Replace them (or wash them and spray the insides with Lysol, including under the insole) with shoes that have good breathing. Avoid wearing boots or heavy shoes that make you sweat, these are prime conditions for fungal growth.

  2. Step 2

Let Your Toes Breathe - When you are at home, or another location you spend much time at, wear open-toe sandals. Or wear socks. Do not go barefoot if you can help it, unless you currently have no infections, as it makes your toes much more vulnerable to collecting bacteria. 100% cotton socks are best because they keep your feet dry and breathe well.

  3. Step 3

Keep Your Cool - Use your air-conditioner, if possible, to keep the temperature in your room or house below 75 degrees. AC tends to remove some moisture from the air as well, which is a very good thing. Fungi have a much harder time surviving in cool and dry climates.

  4. Step 4

Be a Clean Freak - Wash the infected area (or just your whole foot) every day with soap and water. You can do this in the shower if you choose. Make sure you rinse all the soap up and dry WELL. Any soap leftovers are actually helpful for your fungi, so make sure your feet are dry.

  5. Step 5

Quarantine - Fungal infection are contagious, even amongst your own body parts. So anytime you handle your feet, be sure to wash your hands immediately, or you could be dealing with fingernail fungus before long!

Tips & Warnings
  • Consider adding a natural diet to your lifestyle. It will help build your immune system and make you less delectable to fungi
  • AVOID drugs and creams for this condition. Most do not work and can have very serious side effects. Instead, consider using common household items to treat your toes. Click the link in the resources box to learn more.
