You would be surprised to know how many people are unaware that there are actually individuals out there in the world who DO NOT celebrate Halloween! This is not always due to religious beliefs. Regardless of your reasons, when Halloween comes around you find that your house becomes bombarded with costume-clad children knocking at your door to demand candy. The somehow believe that you will feel intimidated by their threat to play a "trick" on you if you refuse. Well, here are some ways you can avoid this problem.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Since it is a holiday and many places of business are closed, you may likely be stuck at home for the night. Although it may be an inconvenience for you, try to stay in an area of the house that is not near the front door (i.e., bedroom).
Step2
Turn off all unnecessary lights, including the porch light, any outdoor lights and indoor lights near the windows. If you are in your bedroom, turn off the kitchen and living room light.
Step3
Remember that most kids are only allowed to trick-or-treat while there is still light, for safety reasons. Therefore, try to find something to occupy yourself for that short period of time. Maybe you can catch up on some reading, or find a good marathon on TV to watch. Just be careful to keep the volume on low.
Step4
The children will not usually keep knocking at your door if you do not answer, because they are eager to move on to the next house and get as much candy as they can within their alloted timeframe.
