Web based proxies are websites that let you surf the internet anonymously and visit websites that may be blocked at your work or school.
Whether it's myspace or facebook that you want to browse during school, or big-brother paranoia kicking in, this guide will teach you how to use a proxy to solve all your problems.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Internet Connection
  • Basic search engine knowledge
  1. Step 1

    Find a proxy.
To look for a proxy just search the most popular search engine, Google.com. Look around a find a proxy you like. Usually proxies will look different but mostly all of them run on the same software.
Good keywords to search for are "phproxy", "cgi proxy", and "myspace proxy".
For those who are having trouble finding a web based proxy in google, I have supplied some free proxies at the bottom of this article, under the Resources section.

  2. Step 2

Enter your desired website in the URL form and hit go.
The URL form is a text field where you enter the website you want to view through the proxy.
Make sure you remember to enter the website in the URL form on the proxy website and not in your web browser's address bar!

  3. Step 3

After submitting the form, your page will load through the web based proxy. Although some websites might not work or may become impaired, most sites should load just fine through a proxy.

Tips & Warnings
  • Proxy speed is a major factor. Go for the proxies that load pages faster, not the ones that only look pretty.
  • If the proxies you find are blocked or filtered at your work or school, try going far into the search results to find fresh new proxies that haven't been discovered yet.
  • Never use a proxy for illegal or abusive purposes.
  • Although you may be browsing through a proxy, your IP address can still be found through Java, ActiveX, Javascript, VBScript, and the use of Cookies. Disabling these plugins are necessary to maximize your anonymity.
