How to buy and decorate vintage style.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Time
  • Yard sale
  • estate sale
  • tag sale
  • flea market
  • elbow gerease
  • love of an item
  1. Step 1

Ok, setting up and decorating a house is not easy. Know one knows that better than me. A really well thought out room takes time, patience and the ability to change ones mind. You will do this at least a thousand times in your life. Women like change. Look at our clothes closet, shouldn't our homes be the same?

  2. Step 2

Buy or go to library, decide what is my style. French Countrywomen, or maybe eclectic? Than get a newspaper what sales are going on in your area? Check the internet, Craigslist is a great resource as well as EBAY.
Take your time, NEVER PAY what the price is, always ask if the seller will go lower. Nine times out of ten they will. Always remember something is only worth what someone else is willing to pay!

  3. Step 3

A good room takes time, So take it. No one ever said you had to do it overnite. Buy the things you love. Mix them up, this style does go with that style as long as colors and patterns stay in the same family. Have fun no one person is the same as another, Why should your home be any different?

Tips & Warnings
  • Once you start, there is no end to what you will be able to achieve. Add things you think you like, live with them switch them out when another piece catches your eye. It's O.K. Its what decorating is all about. I know my guest room is on it's 5th bed since we bought 5 years ago.
  • Warning Worse case you buy something at a yard sale etc. You do not like it. OK have your own yard sale, donate to Goodwill, etc. What did it cost you? $5.
