I recently lost 100 lbs and I want to contribute my ideas about weight loss.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
1. First you have to find some willingness. It can be illusive. You can pray for willingness. You can go to the doctor and have her scare the hell out of you. You can suffer from fatigue and low self esteem until you are willing to do something.

2. Next you need to find support. This can be a group like weight watchers or Overaters Anonymous. Weight Watchers is clinical give you food, and Overeaters Anonymous uses the spiritual approach to help you heal from your underlying compulsion to eat. I went to O.A.

3. Now you have to face that fact that the only way to really lose weight and to keep it off is to find a food plan that you can live with the rest of your life. You can do this with the help of your support group.
Step2
4. Next you must face the fact that the only way to lose weight is to count calories. For every 3,500 calories you don’t eat you will lose one pound.

5. Finally you must work up your courage because when you give up eating the way you usually eat, you are going to go into withdrawal and suffer. Try to do this graciously. On the fifteenth day of my new eating program I finished eating and burst into tears. I went into the kitchen and stared at the refrigerator. I thought to myself, “life is not worth living without eating as much as I want.” I almost slipped that night but something stopped me. I went to sleep depressed and woke up happy.

6. Weigh yourself at least once a week. Throwing out your scale is a mistake. I don’t know about you, but I could gain 20 lbs without really noticing. It is easier to lose 5 lbs than 20 lbs.
Step3
7. Treat yourself to a new outfit every 20 lbs at least. More if you have the money.

8. Wait until the compulsion to over eat finally leaves you. This is when withdrawal ends. For me this took one year and one month. I just sat down to eat one evening, and a regular portion was enough. It was a miracle. My life changed forever.

9. Celebrate, celebrate, celebrate (not with food).
