Instructions

    • 1

Clean your home thoroughly. Remove all leavened bread (chametz) from the home at this time. Traditionally the chametz is sold to a non-Jewish person. Se'or (non-edible sourdough) and garbage (inedible) items are also removed at this time. Your dining room table needs to be kosher. Wash it down with boiling water or cover your table with a waterproof liner (can also be placed above the tablecloth), or thick cardboard.

    • 2

Cover your table with festive and Passover-appropriate tablecloth and napkins on your table.

    • 3

Put place cards around the table indicating the seating of guests. If you are having guests, this adds décor to your table while placing your guests where you want them at your table.

    • 4

Use kosher Passover tableware. Only put kosher Passover dishes, flatware, Kiddush cups and glasses on your table.

    • 5

Place the Seder plate at a prominent spot on the table. Provide a small dish of salt water for each of your guests so that they may use it for dipping.

    • 6

Have an Afikomen bag ready to hold the matzah. This can be purchased or crafted.

    • 7

Set a place for Elijah the Prophet and include a wine goblet.

    • 8

Keep a Haggadoth near the table for easy reading.

    • 9

Place a pitcher, bowl and towel for the hand washing ceremony.

    • 10

Put Passover party favors, such as small candy-filled goblets, at each of the place settings.

    • 11

Add Passover candles and candle holders to your table.

    • 12

Purchase flowers or topiaries and add them to your table or place throughout your home.

    • 13

Add crafted Passover art such as murals and star catchers to your home.
