How to Wave a Hand
A wave of the hand can mean many things. It can be a sign of hello or good-bye. It can be a sign of dismissal or to fan oneself on a hot day. Whatever the meaning or purpose of the wave it is very easy to perform.
Instructions

Side to side wave

Lift your hand toward the person to whom the wave is being directed.

Spread the thumb away from the other fingers of the hand and hold the rest of them together.

Pivot at the elbow and move your hand from side to side several times. Don't forget to smile.
Forward and back wave

Hold up your arm toward the person to whom you are gesturing.

Hold all fingers and thumb together. Face your palm toward the person.

Pivot at the wrist and move your hand up and down several times. Don't forget to smile.
Hand wave of dismissal

Hold your hand up parallel to the ground with the palm vertical to the ground.

Ensure that your palm is facing inward.

Move your hand somewhat quickly from the inside to the outside with a rotation of your hand so that the sign ends with your palm facing the ground. This gesture is only performed once.
