All kids need a place to stash their stuff. Shelving on the wall provides a storage solution to keep things off the floor. Add some practical fun to your child's room by installing skateboard shelving. Boys and girls will love these shelves; just coordinate the colors to your child's room.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Three skateboards
  • Two (25-inch) hanging standards
  • Six sturdy 6 1/2-inch shelf brackets
  • Six wall anchors
  • Six screws
  • Drill
  • Screwdriver
  • Pen
  1. Step 1

Measure the width between the skateboard wheels. Mark the wheel width on the wall. Install the wall anchors and then the hanging standards for the shelves.

  2. Step 2

Place the brackets in the hanging standards. Leave enough space between the brackets for three shelves.

  3. Step 3

Place the skateboards on the brackets. Use a pen to mark the spot on the skateboard for the pilot holes.

  4. Step 4

Remove the skateboards from the brackets. Drill pilot holes in the skateboards, using caution not to drill completely through the boards.

  5. Step 5

Place the skateboards back on the brackets. Secure the skateboards by inserting screws through the brackets into the pilot holes.

  6. Step 6

Place small bins on the skateboards for your child to organize his things.

Tips & Warnings
  • Hang bicycle baskets on the wall underneath the shelving for additional storage.
  • Paint the sides and bottoms of the skateboards to match your decor if you cannot find any boards that do.
  • Not securing the skateboards to the brackets can result in the boards falling and causing injury.
