Know the essential facts about the Trevi Fountain before you go. The fountain is available for viewing 24 hours a day and is lit up at night. A half-circle of steps surround the fountain and provide excellent temporary seats on which to sit and watch the fountain. You hear the fountain before you see it, as it is nestled amongst several buildings. The fountain marks the end of the Aqueduct Virgo, which supplies fresh water to other nearby fountains. The fountain is extremely crowded; a little patience goes a long way toward getting a premium viewing spot.

Tips & Warnings
Watch for pickpockets-they thrive on tourists at the Trevi Fountain.
Beware of vendors selling items here, especially roses. Sellers try to shove their items in your hands, and once you have touched the wares, they insist you have bought them. Keep your hands to your sides and repeat "No, grazi" often.
