The 'fu manchu' is a favorite type of facial hair for many men in many different parts of the globe. The fu manchu has been adopted in the far west by any number of men across the Americas. Former pro wrestler Hulk Hogan has popularized the fu manchu in America, and many others, whether bikers, rockers or road crew workers, wear this particular form of overgrown mustache as a personal style.

Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Stop shaving for a few days. Monitor facial hair patterns as they appear.

  2. Step 2

After about a week, or when you can see a defined stubble pattern, get ready to shave the fu manchu template.

  3. Step 3

Start by shaving your cheeks up to about 1/2 inch from your mouth. Leave a "goatee" type structure in place, including the mustache area, plus two thin bars on either side of your mouth.

  4. Step 4

Shave off the "beard" part of the goatee, letting the two bars of mustache stay on either side of the mouth.

  5. Step 5

Shave the entire neck area, leaving only the 'fu manchu'.

  6. Step 6

Continue to shave daily, using the same method, and the 'fu manchu' will become more distinct: a mustache with two ends that droop down on either side of the mouth, down to the chin and beyond (according to style and grooming).

Tips & Warnings
  • Not all men have the facial hair patterns necessary to support the fu manchu. If your growth is spotty, evaluate whether you can grow a fu manchu mustache or whether it will result in "patches."

on 1/27/2010 This is the absolutely gayest mustache. Everyone I have ever met who sports these are gay. Hulk Hogan is probably the exception. But, these are exclusively for gay redneck men who work in the oil field.
