A dance layout is a beautiful move when executed well. This movement performed by experienced dancers involves extending one leg high into the air while arching your back. A layout creates exceptional lines.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Step1
Stretch out well before beginning the move. Sit in a pike and reach your chest forward trying to lay your chest down on your legs. Keep your legs straight. Stretch in a straddle also using the same technique.
Step2
Do a backbend to stretch out your back. You can also lie on your stomach, grab your heels and arch up creating a boat shape to stretch your back.
Step3
Kick one leg high up into the air straight in front of you. Keep the raised leg straight throughout the move.
Step4
Release your back when your leg reaches its highest point. Arch back as far as possible and drop your head. Bend your supporting leg during the layout.
Step5
Finish the layout by bringing the legs together or end in a tuck position on the floor.
Step6
Create an interesting combination by adding a layout to a turn combination. Perform a double or triple pirouette. Extend the leg from passe to a layout by bringing the leg through developpe. You can do any turn sequence before doing your layout.
