Step 1
Place the ball on the ground, taking a few large steps back from it. If you need to produce a lot of power on the shot, back away a little more so that you have more room to run.

Approach the ball more from the side than from the back. Beckham, himself, usually begins his approach from about a 45-degree angle from the ball and then closes this angle as he moves in for the kick.

Step 3
Make your last step larger than the others and plant your left foot about a foot or so from the ball.

Step 4
Swing your left arm in a circle and away from your body as you take your final step. By the time you plant your foot next to the ball, your arm should be fully extended out to the side, which helps to keep you on balance.

Keep your center of gravity further from the ball than your planted foot.

Take a full swing at the ball with your right leg.

Make contact with the ball about two to three inches right of its center with the largest joint of your big toe.

Step 8
Make sure your foot is moving over, around and through the ball at the moment of contact. This may sound confusing, but you want to produce both sidespin and topspin on the ball. Your foot will need to be moving in both of these directions when it touches the ball.
