Treating a blister while on a hike is easy if you pack along some super glue. This method gives you over 24 hours of protection and keeps bacteria out of the blister.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Remove your hiking boot and sock when you feel a blister forming. Wash the area thoroughly with soapy water.

  2. Step 2

Sterilize a pin or needle with alcohol or fire, and poke the side of the blister with the needle as close to the foot as possible.

  3. Step 3

Squeeze out liquid from the inside of the blister by applying firm, even pressure to the top of the blister. Make sure to leave the skin intact.

  4. Step 4

Open your Super glue and squeeze it over and around the blister. Cover the entire blister and several centimeters around it with Super glue.

  5. Step 5

Wait 60 seconds to ensure the super glue is dry.

  6. Step 6

Replace sock and hiking boot. Walk around a bit to ensure the foot feels OK before you continue hiking.

Tips & Warnings
  • Any brand of super glue works for blister treatment.
  • Don't use this method for hikes longer than 12 hours.
  • If infection occurs, seek medical attention.
