If you are considering decorating your home with house plants, don't overlook the possibility of having an indoor tree. There are many different house plant trees you can choose from. Deciding on which one to get will depend on your style of decor and the environment inside your house.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy
Step1
Research the types of indoor trees available. Ficus, Palm, Citrus and Bonsai are the most popular, but there are also many others besides those.
Step2
Consider your decor style when choosing the best indoor tree for you house. For example if you have an oriental style of decor, a Bonsai tree would fit in well. You want your indoor tree to compliment your decor, not look out of place.
Step3
Evaluate your available space. Unlike small house plants, most indoor trees other than the Bonsai are going to require floor space. They typically need to be planted in large pots and given room to grow.
Step4
Assess your lighting situation. How much light does the tree that you wish to grow require? If the room you want to place the tree in does not provide enough natural lighting, you might need to supplement it with grow lights.
Step5
Think about the temperatures in the room. Remember to consider all seasons. If the room that you want to put the tree into gets cold in the winter you will have trouble trying to grow a palm or citrus tree.
Step6
Don't forget the humidity level. Is the air in the room generally moist or dry? Is there a heating source in the room that dries the air in the winter months? Make sure it is conducive to the indoor tree you choose.
