How to Format a Table in Dreamweaver

Once you have created a table in Dreamweaver, you may wish to apply colors and text styles to make your table more visually appealing for visitors. You can do this easily by using the "Format Table" dialog box. Here you can choose a predefined style, modify a predefined style or create a style of your own making to apply to the table.

Things You’ll Need:

  • Dreamweaver

Step1
Open Dreamweaver and open an existing Dreamweaver file that includes a table you would like to format.
Step2
Click the mouse somewhere within the table to which you wish to apply formatting options.
Step3
Select the "Commands" menu. Then, click on "Format Table" to bring up the "Format Table" dialog box.
Step4
Choose a formatting style from the list in the upper left-hand corner of the "Format Table" dialog box and watch the preview appear to the right as you click on each of the styles.
Step5
Customize the row colors in your table by selecting a color or keying in the hexadecimal color code to specify colors for the first and second row. You can also choose how you want those row colors to be alternated.
Step6
Set the alignment, text style, bg color and text color the top row and left column of your table. These are the cells where you are likely to have the headings for your table.
Step7
Choose a border thickness for your table and click the "Apply" button to view the changes or the "OK" button to make the changes and close the "Format Table" dialog box.
