Roll-on paint pens are fun to make and to use. You can make your own with poster paint and old deodorant bottles. Make this craft as a family project with your kids and watch them enjoy making their works of art with new art tools. The following steps will show you how to make roll-on paint pens.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

Step1
Obtain an empty roll-on deodorant bottle. You will need one empty roll-on bottle for each color pen you wish to make. Remove the ball from the deodorant bottle by carefully inserting a flat-tipped screwdriver between the side of the bottle and the ball and prying the ball out.
Step2
Rinse out the deodorant bottle until it is completely clean. Rinse the deodorant ball well and set it to the side.
Step3
Fill up the deodorant bottle with some washable poster paint in the color of your choice or liquid tempera paint. You can purchase big bottles of poster paint at any crafts or department store.
Step4
Place the bottle onto a table and hold onto it so that it is steady. Snap the roll-on ball back into the bottle carefully.
Step5
Cut a piece of construction paper the size of the deodorant bottle. Use the same color as the paint inside the bottle if you desire.
Step6
Wrap the piece of construction paper around the new paint pen to cover up the deodorant label. Tape or glue the construction paper onto the deodorant bottle securely. Decorate your label if you desire and write the name of the color onto it.
Step7
Use your new paint pens to create beautiful works of art.

Tips & Warnings

  • If a child is doing this craft, a parent must help when prying out the ball from the deodorant bottle with a screwdriver.
