Step 1
Compose a team of 3 to 10 kids ages 9 to 14 years of age. Find children at school, church groups, after school groups, and friends. Advertise for kids to join and welcome as many kids as the adult can handle.
-
Step 2
Find adult volunteers. Each team will be required to have one committed adult "coach." Each team will also need an engineer to consult with along with other professionals that may be needed depending on the "challenge."
-
Step 3
Raise about $700. The $700 will be used to pay the $200 registration fee, buy the updated robot kit, and additional money for the field set-up kit and other miscellaneous items involved in a competition.
-
Step 4
Meet with the team to come up with a team name and decide on a meeting time. Inform the parents of all the details and what is expected of them. Greet the kids and get to know them. The team is as much about building something as it is about build relationships and teamwork.
-
Step 5
Register the team at the First Lego League website. Buy the supplies on the website and wait for the supplies to arrive. Start meeting and having fun.
