If you are thinking of homeschool for your children and want to put a Christian emphasis on their learning but do not know where to begin, there are some great resources out there for you. Many people do Christian homeschooling with their kids and you can be one of them.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • Christian home school curriculum
  • Home school organization information
  • Extracurricular activities

Step1
Speak with your children. Determine if they, too are interested in homeschooling. Take them to speak with other families who have experience in homeschooling. Let them visit actual homeschool classes while in session.
Step2
Following your state's laws regarding homeschooling. Typically you must teach your child a specific number of days per year and certain subjects must be taught. You will need to file a notice-of-intent-to-school your child at home and administer standardized tests that the state provides.
Step3
Choose a curriculum. There are several great Christian curriculums out there such as A Becka and Sonlight among others. Only you can find the curriculum that is right for you and your child, but be certain it meets your state's legal standards for education.
Step4
Join an association of Christian homeschoolers in your area. Through such groups you can get to know other families that homeschool, go to state conferences for homeschoolers, attend book fairs, participate in spelling bees and get any questions answered about homeschooling that you may have along the way.
Step5
Get your child involved in sporting events. Check with your homeschool association to see what kind of sports teams are available for your child. Do a search online or call recreational centers to see what they might have available in the way of sporting events teams.
Step6
Provide other kinds of extracurricular activities for your home schooled child such as art lessons, music lessons, Christian camps and similar social activities. Your home school association may be able to help you identify groups who are doing this in your local area.
Step7
Check with your own church leaders to see about other families in your congregation doing home schooling with their children. You can get a wealth of knowledge support by talking to these parents. You can also set up activities with other Christian home schooled kids.

Tips & Warnings

  • According to some experts, the best age to teach your child a foreign language is between the ages of four and twelve. Teach your child a foreign language using software on your computer.
  • If you cannot find a Christian homeschool sports team, start your own.
