Instructions

    • 1

Collect metal bottle caps. Rinse and dry the caps, and then put them in a box for later use.

    • 2

Prepare the bottle caps once you have collected around a hundred per snake. Place the bottle caps, top down, on a wooden block.

    • 3

Use a hammer and nail to make a hole in the center of the bottle caps. Have an adult or older child make the holes.

    • 4

String two feet of yarn through a tapestry needle. Tie a knot in the end of the yarn.

    • 5

Slide the bottle caps on the string so that the open end of the cap is facing the knot.

    • 6

Make a hole in the cork by hammering a nail through the center of it, length wise. String the yarn through the cork and slide it back so that it is touching the first bottle cap. Tie a knot.

    • 7

Make the face of the snake by leaving two inches of thread coming out of the cork for the tongue. Glue black beads or buttons onto the cork for the eyes.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use needle nose pliers to pull the string through the cork.

  • Use hot glue for a fast set on the eyes.
