How to Make a Fairy Chair

Gardens are a fairy's favorite resting spot. Make your garden attractive to passing fairies by planting plenty of beautiful flowers and making a chair for them to rest in while they visit. Have your children help design and paint this chair for their petite, flying friends. Keep your eyes on the garden, once the chair is finished, for signs of fairy visits.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Old chair
  • Primer tinted in color of top coat
  • Outdoor use paint
  • Paint brushes
  • Morning Glory seeds
  1. Step 1

Purchase an old chair from a garage sale or thrift store, or use an old chair you already have.

  2. Step 2

Sand any rough surfaces on the chair. Thoroughly clean the chair with mild soap and water. Let the chair dry.

  3. Step 3

Paint two coats of primer on the chair. Allow the primer to dry completely before adding the top coat.

  4. Step 4

Paint the chair with a final coat of paint. Choose a paint that is made for outdoor use.

  5. Step 5

Place the chair in a garden area that receives at least partial sun. Loosen the soil around the chair legs.

  6. Step 6

Plant six morning glory seeds a few inches from the chair legs. Follow the packet directions. Thin the morning glories to two plants per leg. Fertilize and water them frequently. Allow the morning glories to climb the chair legs and back of the chair.

Tips & Warnings
  • Paint stripes, flowers and other designs on the chair after the last coat of paint has dried. Lacquer over the designs.
  • Any type of climbing plant will work. Wrap string around the chair legs to guide the vines if needed.
