Going to college is a major milestone in one's life. While some cannot wait to attend the college and live there, others have various reasons for staying at home. Although it may sound much more fun to live it up while dorming at school, there are many reasons why it's a wise choice to live at home and commute to college.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Discuss with your parents the reasons why you are choosing to live at home and commute to college. Whether it's for financial or personal reasons, it's important to get the encouragement from your parents.
Step2
Plan your college semester schedule wisely. Schedule your classes so that you have a day or two off during the week.
Step3
Think about alternate routes to get to your college campus. While it's a great idea to live at home and commute to college, you may hit major traffic on your way to school.
Step4
Join various clubs so that you become part of the college community. It's easy to fall into the cracks and to just take the courses and leave for home. To feel like you're part of the campus, try out different clubs or activities to make some friends and build your resume simultaneously.
Step5
Create a quiet workspace at home to work. Discuss with your family the importance of this. If you have younger siblings at home, you can spend extra time on campus to study at the library.
