How to Use Fabric Softener Around the House
Use fabric softner around the house. It softens clothes and reduces static by way of electrical charges. Positively charged chemicals in the fabric softener are attracted to the negatively charged laundry. Less friction and less static mean softer clothes. Put a stop to static cling on the television screen. Dampen the dust cloth with a little fabric softener and dust the screen as usual.

Remove wallpaper with a solution of 1 quart of warm water and a capful of fabric softener. Sponge the wallpaper and let it stand for about 30 minutes. Scrap the wallpaper right off the wall. Score vinyl or water-resistant wallpaper before wetting it.

Get built-up hairspray off walls and vanities. Mix two parts water with one part fabric softener in a spray bottle and shake to mix well. Spray the area and buff with a dry cloth.

Banish bake-on food on oven-proof casserole dishes. Given them a good soak in water and a little fabric softener for an hour. Wipe away the residue, wash and dry.

Eliminate static shock from the carpet. Mix 1/4 cup fabric softener with 2 1/2 cups of warm water in a spray bottle. Shake well and spritz the carpet with a light mist, taking care not to saturate the fibers or damage the backing. Allow the carpet to dry overnight. Repeat every few weeks as needed.

Restore paint brushes. Clean the brushes completely and then rinse in water with a drop of fabric softener added. Wipe the hilt and bristles dry and store as usual.

Mix one part fabric softener with four parts water in a spray bottle. Use the solution to clean glass tables and doors to help repel dust.
