If your baby has colic, you're probably dealing with bouts of crying which last longer than 3 hours every day, at least 3 days a week. Fortunately, there are several homeopathic remedies that can treat the condition effectively.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Brew some chamomile tea if your baby is crying and constantly requires holding or rocking, or if one cheek appears more flushed than the other.

  2. Step 2

Provide your child with colocynthis if his colic pain appears to come in waves and is relieved when you apply pressure to the abdomen.

  3. Step 3

Give your child magnesium phosphorica if the pain appears to get better after rubbing her tummy or applying warmth to her abdomen.

  4. Step 4

Use Dioscorea for your child if he seems to get relief from arching his back, or presents with gas, burping and nausea.

  5. Step 5

Give your child fennel seed before you feed her. Simmer 1 tsp. of the seed in a pint of hot water for 10 minutes. Strain the fennel seeds, and then give the tea to your child after it has cooled.

  6. Step 6

Add one tablet of acidophilus to your baby's diet daily. Break up the acidophilus and divide in the baby's milk throughout the day.

Tips & Warnings
  • When treating colic with herbal teas, give your child a little, and then wait to see how the baby reacts. If your child accepts the tea, start with 1 oz. per day.
  • Eliminating cruciferous vegetables, beans, onions, garlic, melon, spicy foods, alcohol and caffeine from breast milk may reduce colic symptoms.
  • Don't give your baby more than 4 to 6 oz. of herbal tea per day. Your child may stop drinking milk if she drinks too much tea.
