Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Step1
Evaluate the hopeful parents' financial situation. A couple with less money can be great parents, parents with a lot of money can be terrible parents and vice versa. On the other hand, some birth mothers want their child to grow up in a family with a comfortable lifestyle who live in a good neighborhood and can afford vacations, dance, lessons and the like.
Step2
Determine the importance of ethnicity. It may be important to you that your child be raised by parents that have the same ethnicity as he/she. This may be especially important for minorities, but you may also have to spend more time seeking out the right adoptive parents.
Step3
Decide your stance on prior adoptions. Some birth mothers will feel more comfortable with adoptive parents who already have experience raising and loving an adopted child, especially since their child may not feel so alone with an adopted brother or sister. On the other hand, some birth mothers may want to give this gift to a set of adoptive parents that have never been blessed with a child before.
Step4
Select what type of environment and lifestyle you want your adoptive parents and baby to have. You'll want to know what habits and thoughts they will instill in your child, will they have real family time, will one of the parents stay home with the baby, what religion are they and the like. It may also be important for you to choose a family that has morals and values similar to your own.
