Cow Chip Bingo, often called "Bessie Bingo," has been a popular fundraising event in rural areas for years, and it is a favorite at country fairs. It is a fun way to earn money for your organization, provided you can persuade a farmer to lend you some cows.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • Cows
  • Large, grassy area
  • Paint
  • Raffle tickets
Step1
Decide ahead of time on prizes for your Cow Chip Bingo fundraiser. First prize is usually half of the money earned through raffle sales. Ask local business to get involved and to donate prizes in exchange for advertising at the event.
Step2
Use paint to mark off a large area or a field into one-yard squares.
Step3
Put up to 3 cows in a field and wait for one of them to "do its business."
Step4
Award the prize to the person who owns the square where the cow drops a cow patty.

Tips & Warnings

  • Cow Chip Bingo can last a few minutes or the cow can meander for several hours before she decides to award the prize. This is a great opportunity to visit with friends, sell refreshments or conduct other fundraising activities.
  • If the cow pie lands in more than one square, a classic "crossover plop," the prize money will be divided between the lucky winners.
  • Set a time limit for your Cow Chip Bingo game, and if "Bessie" doesn't oblige, hold a drawing to determine the winner.
  • If you don't have room to play Cow Chip Bingo, a fun option is Chicken Bingo. Chickens generally do their business more quickly than cows, so you are virtually assured to have a winner.
