How to Describe a Rash
When you or your child has a rash, it may need medical attention right away. Whether you think that the rash is severe or not, call your doctor as soon as you notice the rash. The doctor then may proceed by asking you to describe the rash and can recommend further steps to remedy the skin irritation.

Look at the rash that appears on you or your child's body. Undress either yourself or the child to be certain of all the areas that the rash is covering.

Write down on a piece of paper all the infected areas of the body so that you can inform your doctor when you are describing the rash.

Examine the rash. There are many differences between various types of rashes. Many different rashes include chicken pox, Fifth's Disease, shingles or the measles, to name a few.

Note any changes that have been going on in you or your child's diet or environment. Think about any new products that you could have been using in your household to bring on such a rash. Think of people that you could have been around that have also have had a rash.

Call your doctor immediately, and explain all you can about you or your child's rash. He may ask you questions such as what types of food that you have eaten or if you've tried a new product to see if the rash is an allergic reaction or something totally different.

Do exactly what your doctor asks of you. If he wants you or your child to see him right away in the office, be sure to go. Some rashes can be life-threatening. Always take precautions.
