In today's day and age you must have a computer to stay wired to the world. Whether you are a student, businessperson or just the casual web surfer, you use the net and computers to pay bills, order gifts and organize life. Here are some tips on how to buy a Sony computer.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Visit sony.com for their latest and greatest models. Even if you are going to buy at a store, take some time to familiarize yourself with their latest models. Also consider if you have other Sony products such as digital or video cameras. Make sure that the Sony computer you are purchasing is compatible with your other equipment.
Step2
Go to your local electronics store. The national chains are places like Circuit City, Best Buy, Comp U.S.A. and Radio Shack. The advantage you buying a Sony Computer at one of these places is that you can compare it to other brands of computers.
Step3
Bid on auction sites such as Ebay. Ebay has created a whole micro-economy especially for things like electronics. Now there is so much competition for the latest piece of hardware, you can pluck it off Ebay at a steal of a price. Just be sure that you are buying from a reputable buyer with a high seller rating.
Step4
Advertise on community sites such as craigslist.com. Rather than browsing through the boards (which you can certainly do as well) why not advertise what you are looking for and let the buyers come to you? Place the make and model of the Sony computer that you are looking to buy with your contact information. If it is a laptop, ask to meet the person at a local coffee shop, as you can never be too careful.
Step5
Buy a ticket to trade shows to check out the newest merchandise. Sometimes you can even get great deals for being one of the first to buy the merchandise. Not to mention you will be surrounded by other tech minded and savvy people just like yourself.

Tips & Warnings

  • Consider buying the extended warranty. Computers have a way of having major problems a couple years into ownership as viruses evolve and attack older models without the latest virus ware. It may cost you a few bucks, but then your headaches are completely removed once you have a problem. Just call them up and ship it back.
