Step 1
Wash and condition your hair. Apply a leave-in conditioner, wrap lotion or setting lotion appropriate for ethnic hair.
-
Step 2
Comb your hair with a wide tooth comb to get tangles and kinks out. Make a part in the middle third of the scalp from left to right.
-
Step 3
Determine which side of your face you want to wear your hair. Start wrapping the hair in front of the part in a circular direction. Comb clockwise to wear the hair on the left or counterclockwise to wear the hair on the right. Repeat the same strokes with a rat-tooth comb, pressing the hair down to keep it in place.
-
Step 4
Sit under a hardhat blow dryer for at least 45 minutes or until the hair is completely dry.
-
Step 5
Wrap your hair in the same circular direction as you did in Step 3. Brush gently until the hair strands are separated.
-
Step 6
Part your hair and comb onto the elected side of your face.
-
Step 7
Practice, practice, practice. It takes time to train your hair and to learn how to wrap it. The more you practice, the easier it will be to wrap your hair.
