Making apple prints is a fun fall craft project that can be done with children of all ages. If working with young children, be sure that you are the only one to use the knife for cutting the apple. The finished project can also be further decorated with crayons or paint; or glue on some fall leaves for a nice seasonal effect.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Apples
  • Plastic forks
  • Paint
  • Dish
  • Paper
  1. Step 1

Cut apples in half. Cutting the apple from top to bottom will make an apple shaped print, cutting it around the middle will create a round print with a star in the middle. You can also experiment with different cuts for more variety. Try cutting the apple in quarters or cutting diamonds and other shapes out of the apple.

  2. Step 2

Insert a plastic fork through the skin side of the cut apple to be used as a handle.

  3. Step 3

Pour paint into a shallow dish or pan. The paint does not need to be any more than one half inch think. Use a separate container for each color of paint.

  4. Step 4

Dip the cut side of the apple into the paint. Blot off excess paint onto newspaper or a paper towel if you get the paint on the apple too thick.

  5. Step 5

Use the apple as a stamp to make a print onto the paper.

  6. Step 6

Place apple back into the container of paint between each print for best results.

Tips & Warnings
  • Apple prints also work well if you apply them to cloth instead of paper. Try decorating t-shirts or cloth bags with apple print. If you are doing the prints onto something that want to be able to wash, but sure to use washable fabric paint.
