Step 1
Determine the player or team you are going to track. While you can track multiple players or multiple teams, you need to do individuals equations for each player or team. Narrow it down to a set of players or a set of teams that you wish to research.
-
Step 2
Find the rebounding stats for the player or team. The specific stats you need are defensive rebounds, total defensive rebounds by the team and offensive rebounds by the opponent. All of these stats can be found in a basic box score of any basketball game.
-
Step 3
Add the total defensive rebounds to the number of offensive rebounds corralled by the opponents. The resulting number is known as the total rebounds available.
-
Step 4
Divide the number of individual defensive rebounds by the number of total rebounds available. Of course, if you are doing this for an entire team, divide the number of team defensive rebounds by the total rebounds available.
-
Step 5
Round the final number off to the nearest tenth of a percent. Repeat these steps to compare other players or other teams.
