Things You'll Need:
- Calculator
-
Step 1
Determine the scope of your calculations. You can use the offensive rebounding percentage to compare multiple teams or multiple players; however, you need to do these calculations separately. Pick a series of players or a series of teams to compare and calculate each one at a time.
-
Step 2
Get hold of the statistics needed to do offensive rebounding percentage calculations. The stats that are needed are the number of offensive rebounds, the number of team offensive rebounds and the number of defensive rebounds by the opponent. These stats are located in any basketball box score. You can find box scores for college and professional games in the newspaper, as well as on ESPN's website.
-
Step 3
Add together the number of team offensive rebounds plus the number of defensive rebounds the opposing team recovered. This sum of these two numbers is known as the total number of rebounds available.
-
Step 4
Divide the number of offensive rebounds by the total number of rebounds available. If you are calculating a team, the number of offensive rebounds number should be equal to the number of team offensive rebounds. The resulting number is the offensive rebounding percentage for the team or player.
-
Step 5
Continue these calculations as many times as needed. Once you have done a set of these calculations, start comparing the players or teams and discover which players or teams are the best at grabbing offensive rebounds.
