There are families that can't or won't communicate, and there are families that talk all the time without saying anything at all. You can learn to open up lines of communication and talk to siblings in any situation.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Start the conversation. Siblings are only a phone call or short trip away, and by taking the time to call them can make a huge difference when you have a difficult relationship.
Step2
Relate your feelings when you talk to siblings. Overcome past hurts and feelings due by talking about how the past has shaped all of you. This won't always work both ways, but being honest can help them open up.
Step3
Create a family website so everyone in the family can stay in touch. When you don't have time to talk to siblings, and if you have problems communicating, all of you can let each other know what is going on in your lives with a website that doesn't require you to speak.
Step4
Understand your role in the family, and either accept it or change it. If you are the baby or the oldest you will have to accept the role of child or leader. If you don't enjoy being babied by your siblings you will have to let them know. Discuss your decisions with your siblings in order to make any frustration or anger you feel known.
