Step 1
Get the particulars. You need to confirm the date and the time of the game before you invite guests to your tailgating party. Find out what time the stadium opens, and allow yourself enough time to set up before your guests arrive. A good tailgating party should last at least 2 to 3 hours, so factor that in when telling your guests an arrival time.

Step 2
Decide on where you want to park. You won't know the exact location until game day, but you can put your general area on the invitation. You should have an easy way for your guests to locate you, so note on the invitation if you plan to put balloons or a flag on your car on game day. Many cars will be flying the team colors, so choose something else to be distinctive.

Step 3
Give them plenty of notice. If your friends are hardcore football fans, they may be invited to other tailgating parties. To beat the crowds, invite them at least 3 or 4 weeks before the game.

Step 4
Create custom invitations. A creative invitation in your team colors with the team logo will surely get their attention, so consider printing something appropriate on your computer or handmaking it. You might also scan and copy photos of your favorite players onto the invitation.
