If you're looking to tailgate this football season, you probably want to show up in style. Deciding which vehicle to use for a tailgating party involves some understanding of the tailgating culture. Once you know what you want, you're that much closer to enjoying a nice juicy burger and a cold brew in the stadium parking lot.

From Quick Guide: Tailgating
Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Size matters. You need something that comfortably can accommodate several people and your supplies. It must carry a grill and provide seating for everyone plus provide room for all of your food and condiments.

  2. Step 2

Choose something with a good sound system. The ability to crank up the tunes during a tailgate party is essential, so choose a tailgating vehicle with good speakers and a CD changer. Satellite radio is also a good touch. That way, you don't have to worry about manning the music and the grill at the same time.

  3. Step 3

Consider going custom. Almost any vehicle can become a tailgating vehicle with customization. Installing a hitch and a specialty table attachment will make you the envy of all your friends. All you do is fold out the table when you're ready to eat, and fold it back up when you're ready to drive off.

  4. Step 4

Watch the pre-game. Install a flat screen TV with DVD player for the ultimate tailgating vehicle. You and your friends can watch the pre-game in style or even play video games while you wait for the game to start.

  5. Step 5

Have power. Installing power adapters in your vehicle goes a long way when it comes time for a tailgate party. It allows you to use a blender, crock pot and various other household appliances with the power from your car.

Tips & Warnings
  • Remember that the most important ingredients of a good tailgating party are great food and great friends.
