Step 1
Check the brush rollers of your vacuum cleaner frequently. Remove string, hair and lint that are caught in the roller. Use scissors if you need to.
-
Step 2
Disconnect the electrical supply and remove the lower plate that houses the brush rollers every few months, depending on how often you use your vacuum cleaner. Place old newspaper underneath the lower plate to protect your floor from dirt that falls out.
-
Step 3
Remove the brush rollers according to manufacturer's directions. They usually slide out.
-
Step 4
Look to see if there's dirt or debris in the belt path or brush roller area and remove it. Clumps of hair may be wrapped around the bearings of the rollers and need to be removed. Use scissors or another sharp tool if you need to.
-
Step 5
Clean the brush rollers with a damp sponge if you like. Pull the lint out of the brush rollers with your fingers or comb.
-
Step 6
Inspect the belt to see if it is worn because a worn belt affects the performance of your brush rollers. Replace it if it is worn.
-
Step 7
Insert the brush roller back into its housing, making sure the belt is in place. Reinstall the lower plate of the housing and secure it with its clips or fasteners.
