Step 1
Choose fruit varieties in colors that complement the flowers you're using, and suit the occasion. Lemons, berries and peaches are perfect for summertime arrangements, especially when paired with bright yellow or white flowers. The subtle green of a pear matches perfectly with pink spring blossoms. Pomegranate, cranberries and apples are right at home in a harvest-like fall arrangement.

Step 2
Be creative with your choices. You don't have to use just fruit – you can choose vegetables as well. Autumn gourds, eggplant and bell peppers can add just as much to a floral arrangement as any fruit.
-
Step 3
Decide how you want to incorporate the fruit. Some choices include nestling fruits among the flowers, draping grapes over the edge of an urn or placing lemon slices in a clear glass vase to conceal the flower stems. Cranberries can be used similarly to glass marbles in a vase, covering a block of floral foam and helping to support the stems.
-
Step 4
Experiment with different placement ideas before making your final decision. Be open to new possibilities outside your original concept.
-
Step 5
Support pieces of fruit within your floral arrangement with stiff, heavy gauge floral wire. The wire you choose must be thick and strong enough to hold up the fruit without bending. The bottom end of the floral wire should be stuck into a block of floral foam at the bottom of the container you're using. Use oasis floral foam for fresh floral arrangements; it holds water to keep your arrangement fresher longer.

Step 6
Use fresh, firm pieces of fruit as a vase. Apples and pears are perfect for this. Simply poke holes into the fruit using a screwdriver or similar pointed object and place individual flower stems inside the holes.
