Car amplifiers add new life to your car's stereo system. However, without the proper amplifier you won't do your car stereo system any justice. Buying a used car amp will save you a lot of money and you may even find someone who is selling barely used amp.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Decide whether you want a mono, two channel or four channel amplifier. What you choose will depend on how many speakers you want to power and whether or not you have a subwoofer. Think about what would be best for the music that you want to play in your car.

  2. Step 2

Find the right match for your car's speaker system. Ensure that the RMS and Peak power ratings of the amp match your car's speakers, otherwise you can damage your speakers.

  3. Step 3

Search for the used car amp you want to buy. Check online at auction websites, pawn shops and newspaper classified ads. A lot of auction websites give you the option to do a search for models and price ranges.

  4. Step 4

Research the seller before buying. If you don't feel comfortable with the seller, don't buy from him. It will save you a lot of time and money if you research before you buy.

  5. Step 5

Get proof that the used car amp works if you will purchase it from a private party. If you are buying online and are unable to get proof, find out if the website offers a buyer protection plan that will allow you to return the item for a refund if it doesn't work.

Tips & Warnings
  • When buying online, never use instant cash money transferring services to send money. It's a very risky way to pay someone you don't know.
