1. Choose a location. The best area for your outdoor theater is a clear, flat space away from lights. Consider how many people will be joining you to ensure there's enough space for everyone.
2. Gather your equipment. Your outdoor theater requires a screen, a projector, speakers and a film source. An LCD or DLP projector works great when hooked up to your laptop or DVD player, though a regular 16mm projector puts on a good show too. Large screens are available for purchase at most electronic stores, but a large white wall or simple white sheet works just as well.
3. Set up your equipment. Hook up your projector to your source, either a computer or DVD player. Adjust the projector so the images are centered on the screen and large enough for optimal viewing. Connect your speakers to your source as well. Test the equipment set up to ensure it's all working properly.
4. Arrange your seating (lawn chairs work great) close to the speakers and screen so you and your guests have the optimal viewing experience.
