Tux Paint is a free software program designed for kids. You can buy Tux Paint on CD or download it free from the Internet. Tux Paint comes packed with features that can be changed by parents and teachers.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Buy Tux Paint at the Tux Paint website (see Resources). The disk makes it easy to carry Tux Paint from computer to computer. Just pop it in the CD disk drive.

  2. Step 2

Download Tux Paint for free at the Tux Paint website (See Resources). Tux Paint is a very large software application so it will take awhile to download. Also this will only apply it or license it for one computer. Separate downloads are required for every computer you have.

  3. Step 3

Find Tux Paint at your child's school. Many schools are downloading and using this program in pre-schools and kindergartens. It won't be for sale but your child's teacher can provide information on obtaining Tux Paint for home use.

  4. Step 4

Choose to download Tux Paint from other websites on the Internet such as Soft Go (see Resources). It should be a free download from any site promoting this software. Do not buy this software unless they are selling the disk.

  5. Step 5

Know the computer system requirements, before installing Tux Paint on your computer, whether you buy the CD or download the software from any site. If you do not have the minimum requirements for Windows applications, approximately 16MB; for Mac OS X applications, approximately 16MB; or for Linux applications, approximately 16MB, though it may not function properly or download at all.
