Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Find the JumpStart software that is appropriate for your children. The software is labeled by grade and age. Choose something appropriate to your child's age and abilities. You can find JumpStart software at bookstores and educational stores.
Step2
Allow the child to choose which disc to use first if the box comes with more than one disc enclosed.
Step3
Install the program for your child, as you will probably have to register the JumpStart software the first time it's used. Make certain you have Internet access on the computer, as it may be necessary to complete this step.
Step4
Encourage the child to type in the user name. The child may use his own name or create another. If this is the first time the child has used a mouse, help the child become accustomed to using it. Allow the child to follow the directions as prompted by the program. Offer input when asked.
Step5
Let the child use the JumpStart software by herself. This will enable her to have fun and learn to use the computer as well as other skills such as math, spelling and more.
