Credit card companies issue pre-approved credit to consumers for an annual fee. Although credit cards are an easy way to pay for something without taking the cash from your own pocket, managing the monthly payments can be a big task. Avoid problems and manage your credit cards by following the steps below.

From Quick Guide: All About Credit Cards
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Shop around for a credit card that meets your requirements. Go to different banks or contact various card companies to compare their interest rates and reward programs. Get cards that you can afford.

  2. Step 2

Manage your credit cards by paying off the monthly balance regularly. If there is an interest free period on a new credit card, pay all the balance before the period expires. This way you won't have to pay any additional interest fee on your remaining balance.

  3. Step 3

Pay more than the minimum fee to better manage your credit cards. You will be able to reach the payoff amount quickly and avoid receiving credit collector calls.

  4. Step 4

Talk to your credit card company to arrange an easy payment schedule for your credit card bills. This will clear out your debt and help prevent your credit score from going down.

  5. Step 5

Do not spend more than your credit card limit if you want to effectively manage your debt. Additional charges may apply which will only add to the burden of credit card fees.

  6. Step 6

Get a credit card consolidation if you are unable to manage the payments on your credit cards. You will only have to give one low monthly payment for all the credit cards. The drawback is that you cannot use the cards once they are paid off.
