Soldiers are trained individuals who serve their country during peace and war. They go through rigorous mental and physical exercises to become competent on and off the field. Become an enlisted U.S. soldier or civilian army officer by following these steps.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Step1
Read the general requirement list to see if you qualify to become a soldier. The requirements include being a U.S. citizen or permanent alien between 17 to 41 years of age, having a high school diploma or equivalent, abiding by good morals and healthy mental and physical condition.
Step2
Decide whether you want to become a full time active soldier or be in the Army Reserves. Visit the Go Army website to see a detailed list of military jobs.
Step3
Create an account on the Go Army website and enter all the required information. The application will be sent to an army recruiter who will work with you to find the best available job that matches your qualifications.
Step4
Talk directly to an army recruiter who will give you step by step instruction on how to become a soldier and enter the army. He will help you answer questions such as which part of the army you qualify for, where you will be stationed and how long you will serve.
Step5
Take the Armed Service Vocational Aptitude Battery test (ASVAB) which is a knowledge and aptitude test to further finalize a career choice in the army. You need to pass the exam with a minimum score of 31 in questions that range from simple mathematics to science, geography, English grammar and comprehension. Ask the recruiter for more information and sample questionnaires.
Step6
Arrive at the Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS). Bring your Social Security Card, driver's license, proof of marriage/separation/divorce if applicable, birth certificate, parent permission document if under 18 years of age, job referrals and academic documents.
Step7
Undergo a full physical test by a certified US army doctor. Report to your commanding officer at the given date.
