Most colleges and employment centers offer career fairs throughout the year for employers and employees to connect with each other. Making a positive impression on potential employers when there are so many people to talk to and so little time becomes extremely important at career fairs. Read on to learn how to impress potential employers at career fairs.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Prepare a resume, clearly stating your experience and qualifications, to take with you to the career fair. Make sure it is grammatically correct and bring several copies--more than you plan to give out--along with you.
Step2
Dress neatly, as if you were going to a job interview. First impressions at career fairs are lasting, so greet business representatives with a smile and eye contact.
Step3
Impress representatives of the companies that interest you by asking questions and talking specifically about your interests and qualifications. Ask questions about opportunities within the company and let them know whether you are looking for full-time, part-time or internship employment.
Step4
Interest yourself in the business and its representatives rather than just in the free things they might be giving away. Discuss how you would be a great asset to their company and any excitement you share in the field of employment. If you've used the product and love it, don't be afraid to say it--but remember to tie everything into your interest in that particular company.
Step5
Let business reps at the job fair know if you are willing to relocate for the job. Many companies favor those candidates who are dedicated enough to move as the position requires.

Tips & Warnings

  • Talk to an advisor or career counselor about proper interviewing techniques and how to put together an impressive resume prior to going to the career fair. These people can look over your resume and help highlight your positive qualities and minimize your weaknesses.
  • Research companies before the career fair. Obtain a list of businesses involved and search online to find information about those that interest you.
