A book club is for those who share a passion for reading books. A club provides people the opportunity to discuss all important aspects of the book and share their interpretations. It also helps to meet and make new friends with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures. Follow the steps below to host your own book club.

From Quick Guide: Book Clubs
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Select a permanent meeting place for your book club or pick a new venue to host the book club at each meeting. Follow the majority's decision and choose a library, café, restaurant or meet within the cozy surroundings of a member's home.

  2. Step 2

Vote to choose the next discussion book for your club. Pick material from any genre to have a variety.

  3. Step 3

Send or give invitations to the book club members at least two weeks in advance. Let them know about the venue and the time of the meeting. Remind them again one day before the meeting.

  4. Step 4

Ask the club members to read in advance at least one chapter of the book that you selected. Request that they have a few points or questions up their sleeves that they can ask or discuss with the book club members.

  5. Step 5

Assign roles to different members to help others participate equally when hosting a book club. Get a few members to record the conversation, take photographs and be a moderator during the entire length of the meeting.

  6. Step 6

Invite all members to share their point of views regarding the book, the symbolism and the writer's approach. Discuss grammar, imagery and the literary appeal of the book. Share anything that you liked or disliked about the book to keep the conversation rolling.

  7. Step 7

Host your book club with proper refreshments. Ask the members to bring something to eat or prepare the snacks yourself. Use finger foods and add a unique touch by relating it to the theme of the book you will discuss.
