From Quick Guide: Classical Music for Beginners
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Note the different periods of classical music and how the representative composers each excelled at creating moods: Medieval/Renaissance/Early Baroque Period (Bach and Handel); Classical Period (Mozart and Beethoven); Romantic Period (Chopin and Brahms); and Modern Period (Gershwin and Webber.)

  2. Step 2

Be inspired as your cares drift away on Bach's "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring." Originally written for church organ, this is a famous three-minute extract from one of Bach's less-famous 30-minute Sunday cantatas.

  3. Step 3

Try Mozart for an all-around peaceful experience. Whether you're trying to relax before a speaking engagement or you're cuddling with a fussy baby before bedtime, "Piano Concerto No. 21 in C Major" will calm frazzled nerves for all ages.

  4. Step 4

Unwind in a warm bubble bath, moments away from restful sleep, with one of the greatest songs ever composed by Brahms, "Wiegenlied: Guten Abend, gute Nacht, Op. 49, No. 4.", more commonly known as "Brahms Lullaby."

  5. Step 5

Pull out all the stops with Lloyd Webber's "Pie Jesu (Requiem)" and float away to the best day of your life--the one you've not yet had. Spellbinding, this is the song you'll choose again and again for relaxation and inspiration.
