The cotillion is as much about dancing as it is about table etiquette. Drinks should be proper and thoughtful, yet suit the age groups of the students. Here are a few tips on how to choose drinks for a cotillion.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Select a red wine or sparkling grape juice. There will be several glasses at each place setting. The children will learn what drinks go at each location. Proper etiquette calls for a red wine or grape juice. Choose a Riesling or other red wine that you enjoy. Select a sparkling grape juice or other dark drink for the children.

  2. Step 2

Include a white wine. The second glass setting is for white wine. Select a Chardonnay or other similar white wine for the parents. Place Sparkling apple cider, sparkling white grape juice, or club soda in the children's white wine glass.

  3. Step 3

Place a refined water in the water glass. If you need to make budget cuts, this is the place to do it. Used distilled or bottled water if you like, but it must go into a water glass at the place setting. The place settings need to be proper to teach etiquette. A cotillion is as much about the dance as about proper table manners.

  4. Step 4

Choose refreshing drinks for the parents waiting during each cotillion class. There are two main parts to the cotillion--learning the proper dances and etiquette, and showing off to your parents. Steps 1 through 3 were for the grand finale of showing off one's skills. This step is to keep parents occupied when the practice is happening. Buy enough cold sodas and bottled waters to keep them involved.
