It's just more fun to travel with a friend or two. Sometimes senior travelers may need a little help here and there and companions can make the trip more relaxing and enjoyable. Now the Internet can bring senior travel companions together easily with a click of the mouse.

From Quick Guide: Senior Travel
Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Research your location via the Internet or the telephone directory to see if there is a senior center nearby. Senior centers are great places to meet active adults. Many centers plan group trips.

  2. Step 2

Go to the AARP website (see Resources below) or call (888) 687-2277. The website offers message boards relating to travel. You can post a message or find a travel companion there.

  3. Step 3

Search the Internet for senior travel companions. There are many websites, such as Frommers and SeniorsMatch, that have message boards and postings for travel buddies (see Resources below).

  4. Step 4

Join a travel mate service. For a fee, these match you with potential travel companions with similar interests and destinations. Examples are Travel Acquaintance and Travel Chums (see Resources below).
