You can be a feng shui professional when you say you are. There are no state or federal criteria for a formal license in the art of placement as of yet. These programs provide certification and look good on a resume; they are highly recommended by the designer's community. More than anything, you'll need a good referral system in place to succeed. Read on to learn more.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Take the courses from any number of feng shui institutes and schools that are available online. Again, a certificate on your resume looks good.
Step2
Become a licensed interior designer. It is sometimes easier to add professional designation to an existing title that you carry than it is to start new. Feng shui is the art of placement and is used primarily by furniture and building designers anyway. You can also ensure a larger business base by offering an array of services.
Step3
Do your first feng shui consultant gig for free. Make sure you choose a client who has some clout and contacts in the community. Ask for a written testimony to add to your website and other marketing materials.
Step4
Join a professional organization. You can network for clients while participating in educational programs and learning from experienced feng shui professionals.
Step5
Advertise in local new age publications. These publications are becoming mainstays in the freebie racks and can also be seen in health food stores, organic groceries and new thought churches.
Step6
Pass out your cards and flyers to furniture stores and among other related professional businesses. Be sure to reciprocate and give these referral sources business that helps them as well.
