Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Air out the area as much as possible. If the vomit is in your car, open all the doors before cleaning. Likewise, if it's in your home, open the windows and doors before proceeding to the next step.
Step2
Remove the vomit with rubber gloves and a paper towel. Try to pick up as much of the contents as possible without spreading the mess.
Step3
Sponge the area promptly with cool water. Then mix 2 quarts of water with 1/2 a cup of salt. Gently scrub the area with this solution to remove any stains and rinse with cool water.
Step4
Test a small area of the fabric before using any detergents or chemical products on the stain. Such cleaning agents may bleach certain fabrics or cause them to fade.
Step5
Find a bucket and mix together 1/4 cup of ammonia with 1 cup of warm water. Take a sponge or white washcloth and dip it into the ammonia mixture, making sure you squeeze out any excess liquid.
Step6
Scrub the area to remove any remaining odor or stain. Continue to turn your cloth as you blot the area in order to pick up the stain (or detergent) with a clean section of the washcloth.
