The Digimon television series began in 1999 in Japan, and grew to encompass hundreds of episodes. These days, you can watch a multitude of Digimon characters on VHS, on DVD, at film festivals and via your computer.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • DVD or VHS player

Step1
Research old Digimon episodes to decide which ones you would like to watch. The first Digimon series was "Digimon Adventure." "Digimon Adventure 2," "Digimon Tamers," "Digimon Frontier" and "Digimon Savers" followed.
Step2
Collect old Digimon episodes on VHS or DVD. Once you build your own collection of old episodes, you can watch Digimon for hours on end. Keep in mind that there are 54 episodes in the first season of "Digimon Adventure" alone, so you will have quite a bit of buying to do to get all the old shows.
Step3
Choose a box-set edition of your favorite Digimon series on DVD. Box sets include all episodes from a season, and allow you to watch Digimon with higher-quality sound and video than that available on VHS or broadcast television.
Step4
Watch old Digimon episodes on your computer. Sites like YouTube now offer online-streaming versions of Digimon episodes (see Resources below). Simply log on to YouTube and search for Digimon episodes.
Step5
Look for anime (Japanese animation) festivals in your area. Occasionally, anime filmmakers will screen Digimon episodes during such festivals.
Step6
Watch Digimon episodes in the order in which they were released. This way, you will get a comprehensive idea of how the storylines and characters developed over time.
Step7
Join a Digimon fan site online. Fan sites offer detailed background information about old episodes. You can also gather online with other Digimon fans to discuss the episode you are watching.
Step8
Download old Digimon episodes onto your computer from fan sites. Downloading episodes will allow you to watch Digimon even when you are not online.

Tips & Warnings

  • Watch Digimon in its original Japanese language with subtitles. This will allow you to get an authentic feel for the show.
  • If you watch episodes on a site that offers streaming video, keep in mind that you will have to watch each episode in a few separate chunks. This is necessary because the episodes are too data rich to stream all at once.
  • Computers with slower Internet connections may experience halts and delays when watching Digimon online.
